What is Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Aesthetics)?

People with a healthy eye and eye contour look more dynamic, younger, more vibrant. The most common problems about the eyelid are bagging, pitting and streaking in the lower eyelid, and excess skin and lipidosis in the upper eyelid. An older, sadder, tired facial expression occurs among those who have these problems. Therefore, social and daily life may be damaged due to these problems. The eyelid plastic surgery (Blepharoplasty) helps to get rid of these troubles and become self-confident and energetic again.

How Does Eyelid Surgery Perform?

Eyelid surgeries, also called blepharoplasty, can be performed separately for the lower eyelid and upper eyelid; It can also be operated with forehead stretching, eyebrow lifting, mid-face rejuvenation together according to the preference and suitability of the person.

On the other hand, in addition to eyelid surgeries, filling and botox applications for that area are also possible. Eyelid surgery can be performed under both local anaesthesia and general anaesthesia. Aesthetic interventions for the eyelid are divided into two as the lower eyelid and the upper eyelid.

Upper Eyelid Aesthetics.

In the upper eyelid aesthetic process, it is possible to remove excess skin tissue in the upper eyelid as well as regional lipidosis.

• Lower Eyelid Aesthetics

In the lower eyelid aesthetic process, it is possible to remove excess skin tissue in the lower eyelid as well as regional lipidosis. However, when pitting occurs with bagging, some of the excess fats are removed and the remaining part is used to fill the pitting. In this way, pitting as well as bagging is corrected.

How long does eyelid surgery last?

The duration of the surgery varies between two and three hours only if blepharoplasty (eyelid aesthetics) is performed without a different aesthetic procedure.

What Should Be Considered After Surgery?

After the eyelid surgery, there occurs no specific pain other than mild pain that can be passed by taking painkillers. The patient undergoing the procedure can be discharged from the hospital after staying one night. There are incisions on the lower eyelid at the bottom of the eyelash and on the upper eyelid in the fold of the eyelid, but in the long term, it does not cause an uncomfortable scar.

After the operation, bruises and oedema appear on the eyelids and around the eyes, which can usually disappear within a week or two. Sutures are removed on average one week after surgery. The patient can return to his/her daily life within a few days.
