What is Gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia is the condition where the tissues in the breast area grow larger due to hormonal conditions, genetic disorders, various diseases, excessive alcohol consumption and drug use. Gynecomastia does not pass with medication or sports, it can be resolved with only a few surgical and medical methods. According to the stage of gynecomastia, an appropriate treatment method is determined. For the first stage, liposuction, laser lipolysis method or biolipolysis injection is sufficient. For more advanced gynecomastia, excess tissue must be removed surgically to eliminate sagging.

The duration of the operation varies depending on the technique to be applied, but it is approximately one to two hours.

In the case of gynecomastia caused by adipose tissue, although the only liposuction is sufficient, excess fat and breast tissues are removed by making a crescent-like incision around the nipple for the treatment of other conditions. In addition to advanced breast and adipose tissue, it may be necessary to take the skin if there is excess skin in some cases.

The person who was operated generally spends one day in the hospital and then is discharged. Due to the surgical procedure, even if there is pain, that can be relieved with painkillers.

After the operation, drains are placed in the breast area to be removed within a day or two, depending on the situation. The person can return to working life from the third day after the surgery, provided that the working conditions are not compelling. For a month, endeavours or activities that require compelling conditions such as lifting and heavy exercise are not recommended. In the same process, it may be necessary to use a suitable corset.
